Olathe North Families,
Next week is Olathe North Suicide Prevention Week. We will be focusing on the "R" Resilience in the Olathe North Mission Statement. Below are the activities that will be going on all week. 1) We have announcements all week speaking to alternatives to suicide and strategies teenagers need to make great choices. 2) One activity is Cope Cakes. Students will answer skills they use to be resilient . If they do this we will give them a cupcake for sharing their strategy. We will be posting the Cope cakes up and sending out Twitter messages. (See the example below) 3) Thursday Advisory lesson will be specific to suicide prevention and communication to trusted friends, adults, and parents. 4) Presentation in Freshman PE will happen later this month as we will want to help the freshman understand the transition to high school and the difficulties of being a teenager. Thank you to Kelly Warren and the Eagle Service Club for sponsoring this week. Thank you to the Olathe North Support Staff: School Psychologists: Erin Davis and Matt Sidarous and Social Workers: Ben Mustain and Kelly Hull. Please have serious conversations with your kids about suicide prevention. If you need any help do not hesitate to call Olathe North.
