Parent Information Regarding the Panorama Social Emotional Learning Students Survey
We thank you and your family for being our valued partners as we work together to educate the children in our district. To learn more about student experiences and needs, we will be asking for your child’s feedback via an online survey they will complete at school. Over 1,000 schools and districts use Panorama for Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) to grow and measure their students’ social and emotional skills and supports.
Social emotional learning captures the mindsets, skills, attitudes, and feelings that help students succeed in school, career, and life. For the Olathe Public Schools, Panorama for Social-Emotional Learning measures how students and teachers are doing on SEL topics and gives educators resources to use every day in order to instruct students in social-emotional skills.
Your consent at enrollment allows a 30-minute student survey to be given three times a year to measure students’ perception of their skills in the areas of grit, emotional regulation, social awareness, teacher-student relationships, coping with anxiety, sense of belonging, and school safety. This data will be reviewed at the district and classroom level to determine areas of strength and areas where more instruction is needed and/or skills practiced. Student individual data will be available to both students and parents.
Contact your building principal with any additional questions or to obtain a copy of the survey questions.
