Olathe North does not have a specific route that parents need to travel to drop off and pick up students. Here are a couple suggestions list below for arrival and departure.
Arrival: If you are dropping students off at 7:30 am you can literally drop your student off at any location. Front of building near south commons entrance. North of building at 800 or North Commons Entry. Or you can drop them off near the lower 900 entrance on the east side of the school. Due to 2,000 students and 260 staff we have several entrances open for arrival. If arrival is after 7:30, I would drop in the rear (North-side) of the building. There is less bus traffic. We will be attempting to make some significant changes in the morning if you are dropping your student off in front of the school. We are requesting that you pull into our front driveway and drive down to the South Commons entrance. Please understand that safety of our students is our number one priority. With that being said, we do not want parents dropping students off on Prairie Street. Please pull into the lot to drop students off. Our morning security will be there to direct traffic. Dismissal: If you are picking your student up I would recommend not coming until 3:10 when all student drivers and buses have vacated the premises. If you feel as though you need to arrive prior to 3:00 pm, I would recommend the North Commons or 800 entries on the north side of the building. This is the only location that we do not have buses loading for departure. Jason Herman Principal Olathe North High School jhermanon@olatheschools.org 913-780-7140 Twitter: @JasonHermanON

Garmin is hosting an information session on Tuesday, Sept. 24th in the Garmin auditorium to share more information about career paths in the tech world that do not require a 4-year college degree. If you are inclined to share this opportunity with other families I think they would fined the information of value for those who have an interest in this area. A link to register for the session is below and I have attached a graphic which summarizes the opportunity in an easy to share format. Parents of 11th grade students,
Changes have been made to the Kansas immunization requirements for the 2019-2020 school year. This is a reminder that all juniors must be compliant with the Meningococcal (A,C,W,Y) vaccine by October 7, 2019. Notices were mailed and emails were sent out last spring to all parents of juniors as well as notification in July and August of this new requirement. A SECOND dose is required for all 11th graders, or one dose if age 16 when receiving first one. Please provide physician documentation to the office of the school nurse. (See attached). Students will be excluded from school for noncompliance after October 7, 2019. All immunizations received so far have been uploaded into ParentVue. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Mini Lesson #1: Dress Code PowerPoint8/27/2019 As many parents know the dress code is a very delicate and questioned topic at Olathe North. It is the opinion of the administration and staff that we establish a professional setting for learning. We are not asking the kids to dress professionally, however we are requesting that all students meet the simple requests that is our dress code. Support from our community and our parents is essential to ensure the safety and integrity of what the school day should entail. Please see the powerpoint below. 1. We do not allow hats, beanies, or hoodies worn on the head during the academic day due to the safety of all students. If an emergency did occur we rely on our cameras to recognize perpetrators and victims. It is difficult to identify students with hoodies or hats being worn during the instructional day. 2. No clothes with alcohol, drugs, weapons or sexually suggestive material or innuendos. This type of clothing can be offensive and inappropriate for a school setting. 3. No strapless or low cut tops. No short skirts or shorts are to be worn. We will allow off the shoulder tops as long as they have two sleeves. 4. No student can wear any clothing that allows a student midriff to be exposed. This goes for tops, sweatshirts, or athletic uniforms. 5.No masks are allowed at school or extra-curricular activities. Face paint is not allowed during the school day but is OK at athletic events. 6. No exposed undergarments or sagging pants allowed. 7. No excessively ripped or torn clothing. 8. Undershirts that are tank tops are not allowed to be worn as the primary shirt at school. 9. No pajamas except on a spirit day where pajamas are the designated attire. 10. No clothing that represents gang attire. |
