![]() Olathe North Sr High earned high National and metro-area rankings in 2021 Best High Schools, which U.S. News released this morning. Here is your school’s updated U.S. News profile page, with details about its rankings: https://www.usnews.com/education/best-high-schools/kansas/districts/olathe/olathe-north-sr-high-8105. By earning a national ranking in the top 40%, Olathe North Sr High achieved status as a U.S. News Best High School and gained eligibility to display a U.S. News-trademarked 2021 Best High Schools award “badge” (logo). About 2021 Best High Schools The 2021 edition of Best High Schools includes a numerical ranking of nearly all public high schools nationwide – almost 18,000 of them. There are rankings within each state and within each census-designated metropolitan area that has three or more high schools, as well as the Best STEM Schools ranking and comprehensive Best Charter Schools and Best Magnet Schools rankings. Also published are rankings of high schools within each school district that has three or more high schools. With today’s launch, U.S. News has published detailed school-specific information on enrollment, graduation rates, student body demographics, location, school type and results of state assessments as well as Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate tests. The Best High Schools rankings, available online only, are produced in conjunction with RTI International, a global research firm. U.S. News doesn’t collect data directly from high schools – all data comes directly from official third-party sources. U.S. News receives AP and IB data directly from the College Board and International Baccalaureate, respectively, for use in the rankings. The state assessment data and graduation rates are from each state, and other data comes from the U.S. Department of Education Common Core of Data. Sincerely, Mark W. ACT Test Prep5/4/2021 ![]()
Power Prep Inc, will be offering an ACT prep class for students preparing to take the ACT. This opportunity will be held on Tuesday, June 1st from 8:00 AM to 12:45 PM in the Upper Commons. Olathe North is offering a $20 discount for all North students that sign up. Normally the class is $65 but for this session it will be $45. If you register by May 25th, Power Prep Inc is offering an additional $10 off making the class $35.
Please see the link or the attachment provided for more information and to register: https://actprep.info/olathenorth ACT Testing Information Who should take the ACT? Any student planning on attending a 4-year university. Many schools have waived the ACT scores for the class of 2021 however, it is still required for many scholarships at universities. It is unclear at this time, what will be decided for the class of 2022. When should I start taking the ACT? We recommend starting by the end of Sophomore year. The June test is a great test to get started in the process. For an additional $20 students can get a copy of the test booklet and their answers about a month after they take the test. This is a great learning tool to see areas where you need to make improvements. The test information release is offered for the April, June, and December tests. Most students will take the ACT 3 times. We also recommend being finished by the end of the summer before Senior year in taking the test. The ACT is offered in June, July, September, October, December, and April each year. What should you do to get ready for the test? Practice! Research has shown the more you look at the test and prepare the better you will do. We also recommend taking a prep test. How does a student register for the ACT? Students will need to register for the ACT at www.actstudent.org. They will need to set up an account to register and pay for an exam. Students on free/reduced lunches can talk to a counselor and use an ACT waiver for 2 free exams. This account will be where students will check their testing location and confirm their registration.

COVID-19 Mandates Lifted5/1/2021 Good afternoon, Olathe Public Schools staff and families,
The Johnson County Board of Commissioners has not renewed their countywide mask mandate past April 30. Recent legislation (SB 40) delegated sole authority to school boards to make decisions during the state of disaster emergency related to COVID-19 for schools. While the county has lifted its mandate starting May 1, the Olathe School District’s COVID-19 mitigation practices will continue for the remaining three weeks of school. This means that staff, students, and guests will be required to continue wearing masks to school and at district facilities through the end of the 2020-21 school year. Decisions about next school year and how COVID-19 mitigation will be made and shared with staff and families prior to registration in July. Olathe Public Schools Administration |
