Nationally, while the actual number of students earning a composite score of 36 varies from year to year, less than one-tenth of 1 percent of students taking the ACT earn a top score. These make seven perfect ACT scores in the Olathe School District for this school year. "This is exciting news and we are very proud of our students who received perfect scores on the ACT," Olathe North Principal Jason Herman said. "They represent the hard work ethic and preparation we want for all students at Olathe North. Our staff, students and community congratulate Wade, Brian and Anchal." Beach is involved in cross country, track and field, orchestra and is a member of the National Honor Society. Boohar is involved in student council, DECA, debate and forensics, Scholar’s Bowl, Science Olympiad and is a member of the Spanish National Honor Society. Gupta is involved in debate, DECA, Olathe Youth Court, dance team and is a member of the National Honor Society.

FAQ’s about the Academic & Military Signing Ceremony What is the Academic & Military Signing Ceremony? Ten years ago, the faculty and staff of Olathe North decided that we needed to honor the students who excel in the classroom and receive scholarships to attend post-secondary institutions based upon their academic talents and performance, just like we do those students who receive scholarships for post-secondary institutions for athletics. The first step is to fill out the Google Form that is located at this web address: http://tinyurl.com/ONhsasc20182 There are a few other tasks to take care of, but this is where he or she will need to start. the registration deadline is April 30. Will the students be informed about this ceremony? The students will have the opportunity to visit with Mr. Belske during Halftime A on Wednesday and Thursday, March 28 & 29 in the Auditorium. There will be a short presentation and an opportunity to ask questions. While attendance at one of these meetings is not required, it is highly encouraged. When and where does the ceremony take place? The ceremony will be during an all-school assembly in the North Gym on Thursday, May 3, 2018, at 10 am. More specific details regarding parking and other items will be mailed home to the parents of those students participating prior to the ceremony. One to One Technology Update3/20/2018 High School Technology Parent Updates
District Continues Work on 1:1 High School Technology Initiative District staff continue to work toward implementing a 1:1 high school technology initiative at the remaining four high schools, following the launch of a 1:1 program at Olathe West High School. Making sure that the launch of a vital technology initiative is successful, district staff has developed 10 assurances that staff are working to meet before the scheduled launch of a 1:1 initiative at the remaining four high schools. Some of these assurances include the implementation of vital infrastructure, wireless accessibility, professional development, device determination, among others. District staff are still working through some of these assurances. We continue to learn from Olathe West students and staff as they engage in high levels of learning using 1:1 devices. Their experiences, both positive and negative, allow us to continue creating an even better experience behind the scenes as we prepare for our next deployments. Once a timeframe has been determined for Olathe North, we will communicate with parents. Thank you for your patience as we work to implement a successful 1:1 technology initiative at our high schools.

As you may or may not be aware, the City has recently begun a sidewalk construction project, adding sidewalks along streets that currently do not have them in neighborhoods around Olathe’s schools. As part of this project, sidewalk is being added along the west side of Curtis Street between Prairie Street and Whitney Street west of Olathe North High School. Sidewalk will also be added along the north side of Whitney Street between Curtis Street and Nelson Road north of the high school. This construction is set to begin next Monday, March 12th and will continue until the beginning of May. The Contractor will start on Curtis street then move to Whitney Street.
Construction hours for this project are limited to 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., however, the contractor has been advised that it may be necessary to reduce construction operations during peak traffic in the mornings and afternoons. When construction begins on Curtis Street, street parking will be restricted to the east side of the street to allow space for the Contractor to complete construction of the sidewalks on the west side. Myself and the Contractor will do our best to contact anyone whose car is parked on the west side, but if we cannot reach anyone and the vehicles are impeding construction progress, the vehicles may be moved via tow truck to the other side of the street, to a cross street, etc. to allow construction to continue. The City will bear the cost of any towed vehicles, but the vehicle owners may have to ask for assistance in finding where their vehicle was moved. We are requesting that students not park on Curtis Street once construction begins there. We will be replacing driveways on the west side of the street and these homeowners will have to park along the east side of the street during construction. Because of this, we would like to reserve the east side of the street for the homeowners on Curtis Street to use. Notices will be provided to all of the homeowners along Curtis Street notifying them of this, however I need your assistance in informing the students that may currently park in these locations.

![]() Congratulations to Coach Carroll and the 2018 Olathe North Wrestling Team. They came home with the 2018 Kansas 6A State Wrestling Championship. This is the first time, not only in school history, but a first for the Olathe School District. The boys showed a great amount of maturity in having to deal with things they couldn’t control. Olathe North had 4 individual state champions in Keegan Slyter at 126lbs, Jevon Parrish at 138lbs, Javier Contreras 145lbs and Terrell Garraway at 170lbs. We also had three other placers with Joe Triscornia placed 6th at 106lbs, Devin Stoker placed 6th at 154lbs and Ryan Huck placed 5th at 185lbs. The reason Olathe North won the tournament is out of the 14 boys that qualified for the state tournament 12 of them scored points in the meet which is the reason they can be called the Kansas 6A State Wrestling Champions. These boys worked extremely hard and deserve this honor.
